What is Hypnosis?
Most people's contact with hypnosis comes from seeing a stage hypnotist. Fortunately, no hypnotist can put you "under their spell" or make you do something you which you think is dangerous or against your interests. A more common but largely misunderstood form of hypnosis is the self-induced trance that we all experience every day, such as when driving. If you have ever driven to work on “auto pilot”, you were hypnotized! On reaching your destination you may have asked yourself the question “How did I get here?”

How many sessions am I likely to need?
Most solutions require 3 to 10 sessions, although changes can usually be noticed after the first session.
Do clients need a referral?
Clients do not usually need a referral to undertake hypnotherapy. If a problem has a physical basis (eg pain management), it is best to be examined by a doctor first and ask for a letter of recommendation to initiate therapy.
Health Fund Rebates
Hypnotherapy is not eligible for a Medicare rebate but may be eligible for a rebate through your Private Health Fund.
